Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival is offering $4500 in 2017 Scholarship Awards

$ 2500 MAEF R.W. Mutch Scholarship

First Place $ 2500
Awards for Runner ups in two age groups 15-17 and 18-25

MAEF is proud to partner with the R.W. Mutch Foundation to offer this scholarship.
Carol Coleman, the foundation’s director, collaborates with MAEF to identify the
candidate who reflects the qualities and horsemanship abilities of the late Ronnie
Mutch.

This scholarship is open to 2017 MAEF exhibitors under the horse show age of 26
(age as of 12/1/16) upon submission of the Scholarship Registration form and fee.

The award will combine the results of a multiple choice written horsemanship exam with
their top two riding scores form the first two days of competition at MAEF.
In the event of a tie the ride scores will take precedence.

Candidates must be an exhibitor in a MAEF Championship classes. The award
presentation takes place after the Young Rider Championship class on Sunday, Nov 19.

$2000 Maryland Horsemanship Scholarship

First Place $1250

Awards for Runner Ups in two age groups 15-17 and 18-25

This scholarship is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC including MAEF exhibitors under the horse show age of 26 (age as of 12/1/16) upon submission of Scholarship Registration form and fee.

ALL equestrian enthusiasts from any and all disciplines, from 4-H, Pony Club, IEA, IHSA, dressage, eventing, western, and breed disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Six candidates with top scores from a multiple choice handwritten horsemanship exam will proceed to a practicum of general horsemanship knowledge conducted by a veterinarian and panel of experts. In the event of a tie, the practicum evaluation will take precedence. The award presentation takes place before the Team Class in the evening on Saturday, Nov 18.

MAEF Undergraduate Horsemanship Practice Exam

MAEF is proud to offer this practice exam to any and all equestrian enthusiasts 14 years of age and under.

The Undergraduate Practice Exam will be given at the same two times as the
scholarship Horsemanship Exam. The intent of the exam is to provide a scholastic
introduction for those wishing to pursue Horsemanship Exams in the future.

Registration is required, there is no registration fee and exam may be taken at either
test time. The test is a shorter multiple choice version of the Horsemanship Exam.
Questions are based on the USHJA Study Guide and Pony Club Manuals.

The MAEF Undergraduate Horsemanship Practice Exam has no cash prize, special
awards will be presented to top finishers. The award presentation takes place before the
Team class in the evening on Saturday, Nov 18.

All registration forms must be emailed to maefmary@gmail.com. The horse show
secretary does not accept scholarship registrations. You will receive a Paypal invoice to
complete registration.

High school students are encouraged to apply and the award will be held in escrow. The
scholarship will be distributed upon acceptance and enrollment in an accredited college,
university, or vocational school.

The award expiration date is December 1st of the year the winner reaches 26 years old.

The award will be used solely for educational purposes and will be made payable
directly to the educational institution for the student.

Acceptance of the scholarship award constitutes permission to use recipient’s name,
biographical information, and photos for publicity purposes.

Registration fee is non-refundable.
